A River of Physician Wellness: Join Us in April!

From the Beach to the Desert to San Antonio’s River Walk!

Are you a physician in need of inspiration, fellowship, and some R&R? Are you looking for a meaningful conference that won’t stress you out but will leave you rested and refreshed? I know what you’re thinking … this is obviously not a physician conference.

Well, think again! Times are changing, and I’m SO glad!

Join us in San Antonio, Texas for the 3rd annual AAFP Physician Health & Well-being Conference coming up April 15-18, 2020. This time, we get to enjoy the delightful San Antonio River Walk! Have you been there? I can’t wait to return to this beautiful city with its Spanish roots, rich history and architecture, and I’m particularly thrilled to return to this conference! This will be my 3rd year serving as faculty alongside an outstanding group of colleagues who are knowledgeable, genuine, and not afraid to be vulnerable with one another. This is truly a one-of-a-kind conference experience.

In fact, in 25 years in medicine, I had never experienced a conference focused entirely on equipping us as physicians and edifying us as human beings. This time, I will offer two workshops on recapturing the joy of medicine. I will also deliver a plenary session discussing creative strategies to de-escalate troubling encounters that prioritize safety and relationships while also guarding our hearts. My hope is that my presentations will equip and inspire you and our colleagues to persevere while finding greater meaning and purpose in medicine and in life.

Whether you are a practicing physician, a medical student, resident or fellow, this conference focuses on you! If you’ve never had an opportunity like this one, I encourage you to jump in and join us in April! Invite a colleague and bring your family; there is something for everyone! I hope to see you there!
